I think I made mistake by starting to listen A World Undone. It is 27 hours long audiobook of The Great War which we know as First World War now. Not the best idea when there is a war which could spread going on. I knew First World War was insane but didn’t realize how insane until listening this book. It is scary is how it connects to current war. Background sections are best part. Regular chapters start to feel repeat but that is because not much changed on fronts. Large amounts of people were killed for little or no gain.
Brink - Book Four
I am starting to think Dan Abnett doesn’t know where he wants to take this comic. Third book hinted mystery is starting to be revealed in fourth book. Fourth book sends Bridget Kurtis to her birth habitat and role where she is out of the way. This time it is detective story with corrupted cops and gangs ruling the habitat. Story is ok but main story is set aside for this book.
There is macguffin which is related to first book cliffhanger but that is only thing related to main story arc. No mentions of infodump from third book. Each books stories are ok but only teasing start to get ridiculous. So does hinting of Lovecraftian horror. Third book hinted there is science fiction reason for people losing their minds. Fourth hints Lovecraftian reason.
I would continue to next book but this is the latest book at the moment which make all this teasing more annoying. Brink continue in 2000 AD magazine. Next book comes in future.
Jin Roh 20220410
This is inspired by Jin Roh and what is going on in the world at the moment. Saw Batman picture which reminded me of Jin Roh. Got inspiration from that. Did’t use reference. Draw this from memory.
I have doom scrolled way too much lately. It has affected on drawing and everything else. I had backlog of posts but it has grown thin. I am trying to get my doom scrolling into control and hopefully get something done. I wasn’t hooked into social media before the war. I had it in control.
Brink - Book Three
First two books were promising. Third is where the story gets really interesting. Brink has been hard science fiction with hints of Lovecraftian horror. There has always been hard science fiction reasons for everything but it wasn’t sure if there weren’t anything more. After third book it looks like Brink stays hard science fiction. Second book felt soft reboot. Third book connects first book to rest of the books.
Third book continues where second one ended. Bridget Kurtis goes undercover to Junot Corporation HQ. She tries to solve who was behind of alterations of second book’s space habitat. This lead her to master sect or is there master sect after all. Brink is telling the story quite slowly. After three books we know humans are losing their minds but it is not yet sure why. First two book’s hinted something Lovecraftian. Third book hints something more interesting.
First book ended with cliffhanger. It looks like we get into it on next book.
Brink - Book Two
Bridget Kurtis is back. This time she is private security consultant. First book’s cliffhanger happened but it didn’t change that much. One character was pushed to be CEO but it didn’t mean that much. Second book is almost fresh new start. Nothing from first book’s story arc was brought here. Second book set the stage quite early. You know what is going on from get go. First book took more time to tell what is going on.
Corporation is building new spaceship for human habitation. It gets delayed to point it becomes problem for the corporation. Kurtis is sent to investigate. There are rumors of ghosts. Brink stays mainly hard science fiction but there still is hint of Lovecraftian horror. First book told humans are going mad in space but there could be more than just space making humans mad.
Brink started to get good on second half of first book. Second book stays good from beginning to end. This is hard science fiction. There are no chosen ones or superior fighters. Just normal people living in spaceships.
Superpower 20220330
Did start this drawing with intention to publish it. It was one of those drawings I do to get better. I liked it so much I thought I could publish. It is someone using superpower. Didn’t thought what kind of superpowers.
