It is first day of loosened corona restrictions in Finland. Some restrictions were loosened before but today was first bigger opening of Finland. Watching how people filled bars it might not be that long. At least in Capital Area. Rest of Finland might not have same problem. Numbers have gone down. Looks like Finland wasn’t hit that hard with first wave. Interesting to see what happens this month when country has partially open. At same time Sweden got first place on daily deaths per capita list. If we don’t get bad waves after this it looks like Sweden’s strategy wasn’t as good as rest of the Nordic countries’.
Our biggest local issue seems to be should government issue recommendation to use masks. We don’t currently have it. United States have different issues. They seem to forgot the whole pandemic. I know Trump is insane. I don’t understand why others have let this go this far. If this keeps going United States is smoking ruins by the end of the year. In civilized countries president doesn’t try to escalate civil war. If Trump “makes America great again” it is because he unites people to work against him. Which seem to happen with current black lives matter. He and police has shown rest of the world what black people have to endure in United States. Now we know it.
We know what kind of double standards United States have. When people protested with assault weapons they were “fine people”. Peaceful protesters are thugs because they are not on president’s side. If you want to understand in-group bias just check how Trump has reacted to different protests. It is so obvious the whole world has seen how bad things are in United States. When black athletes had peaceful protests president responded with outrage.
Now police targets journalists and use violence against peaceful protests. If this happened elsewhere United States wouldn’t approve it. Now it happens in United States and president tries to push it even further. Knowing how Trump doesn’t want to look weak this probably doesn’t end well for the country or Trump. In Twitter and Facebook it looks like celebrities and companies start to take black lives matter side. Maybe this is the time when change happens in this issue. Enough people now know how bad things actually are.
But this doesn’t change the fact that there is still pandemic going on. United States may not be leading on daily deaths but that is only because Brazil is doing worse job by doing what Trump wants to do.
