Music favorites of April 2021

It is that time of the month again. Let’s start with album which isn’t released when I write this. But pre-orderers have got five songs in advance.

Gojira: Fortitude

Five songs are enough to tell Gojira hasn’t lost it. Album will have six more songs. Last time I saw Gojira live they played with borrowed equipment. I didn’t have problem with that show. They promised to come back to play with their own gear later. I guess that will happen 2022.

Sur Austru: Obârșie

I have got less new black metal since I cancelled Avantgarde Music’s subscription. I got too many not so inspiring albums from subscription. They still release really good music. Like Sur Austru’s latest album. Their previous album was one of my top favorites of year it was released. This could do the same. It made me reconsider re-subscribing Avangarde Music. It would be cheaper to get these good albums. I could just delete ones I don’t like that much.

All Them Witches: Atw

I don’t think I have mentioned All Them Witches before. They are bit like modern hard rock version of The Doors. This comes from someone who thinks The Doors is one of the greatest bands ever existed. Got this album this month. This is one of the bands I aim to get almost all albums they have released.

The Dead South: Sugar & Joy

When band’s music start to work it works. I had another The Dead South’s album in previous post. This month’s The Dead South album is Sugar & Joy. This doesn’t have as good songs as one which introduced me to the band. But I like the album as a whole.

The Devil Makes Three: Chains Are Broken

Same words different band. I have quite a few of The Devil Makes Three’s albums on wish list. I got this one this month.

Murder By Death: Red of Tooth and Claw

Ok. This month I got few albums from bands I have found lately and want more albums from. From Murder by Death I got this and Audiotree live EP. That EP is good starting point because it is quite cheap. If you don’t want buy it with out proper listening you can watch the gig in Youtube before buying.

Pale Waves: Who am I?

Pale Waves have released new music since I last checked them. Their previous album and EP had some killer songs. This one doesn’t have any such killers. At least none of the songs have grown on my like few of their previous songs but this is quite solid album.

Julia Kent: Green and Grey (Expanded)

This is second time I bought Green and Grey. I had regular version before. As I have all her other albums. Had to get extended version to get more songs like this one. Waiting for new music from her. Based on Instargram post she is practicing for live show(s). So there is hope. New music from another similar artist Zoe Keating would be nice too.

Den Sorte Død: Den Sorte Død

Starting to feel I put almost every album I bought here. I haven’t done so. I will put one after this one. I don’t know much about Den Sorte Død. Looks like Youtube doesn’t know much about them either. This was only song from the album I could find and I had problems playing the video. Hope you have better luck with it. This will have to do for dark cinematic ambience on this month’s list. Albums I got from Cryo Chamber during Bandcamp Friday are quite average on Cryo Chamber standards and I don’t want to put something from them on every post even if they deserve it.

カオスピピス: My Borderline

Didn’t get much Japanese music this month. This single was only one. I like the song but it looks like I don’t have to follow band further. Idol groups have tendency to try different styles before something sticks. This is first single and second single is something else. You get preview of it at the end of video. This isn’t first group I have liked until they changed their style.
